Most alarming is the number of patients with the disease, 47,000 in Spain, and the number of new cases which are diagnosed each year: 1,800 cases!

It causes an acquired disability because it produces a chronic inflammation of the nervous system and, unfortunately, even today the factors which cause it are unknown.

Therefore the team of “Centro de Medicina Neuro-Regenerativa”, expert in permanent acupuncture, continues to analyze thoroughly how this ancient technique (applied permanently and in the ear) may be able to alleviate some of the symptoms of the illness.

The auricular-acupuncture, which is so designated because of the region in the ear where the needles are implanted, has demonstrated its benefits in other serious neurodegenerative disease such as Parkinson’s disease and therefore, the center (pioneer in the application of “permanent needle “) studies the possibility that the technique could also improve the quality of life for patients with multiple sclerosis.

While “Centro de Medicina Neuro-Regenerativa” progresses in its investigations and treats some patients with this painless and without side effects technique, the Center recommends a series of simple guidelines that the patient can apply daily, such as eating a varied and healthy diet.

In this sense are recommended whole grain, nuts, garlic, fish and, in general, fruits and vegetables. It is not recommended either smoking or drinking alcohol.

The practice of moderate exercise and especially disciplines such as yoga, are also recommended, just like physical therapy as a therapeutic alternative.

We must not forget the benefits offered by immunostimulant natural substances such as propolis and echinacea.
